AUGUSTA, Ga. - With their regular-season schedule coming down the homestretch, the University of Houston golf team opens play at the Insperity Augusta State Invitational this weekend.
The two-day, 54-hole event is slated for Saturday and Sunday at Forest Hills Golf Club. Tournament plays begins at 7:30 a.m. (CST), Saturday with a shotgun start. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday with the final 18 holes slated to tee off at 8 a.m., Sunday.

The impressive field includes defending NCAA national champion, host and sixth-ranked Augusta State, No. 3 Alabama, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, No. 8 Illinois, Lamar, South Carolina, Tennessee, No. 2 UCLA, USC Aiken, Virginia Tech and Washington.
Five of the top-eight teams and seven of the top-10 individuals in the latest GolfStat national rankings will be competing this weekend.
A YEAR AGO
The Cougars finished 16th in the team standings at this tournament, while Joseph Reynolds tied for 55th place with a score of 220, thanks to a second-round 69.
THE LINEUP
Dismuke will use the same lineup for the fifth straight tournament - freshmen Curtis Reed, Bryn Flanagan, Jesse Droemer and Wesley McClain and sophomore newcomer Will Dusenbury.
Flanagan leads the Cougars with a 73.25 scoring average, while Reed is a close second at 73.33. McClain paces the team with 10 rounds of par or better, while Reed and Dusenbury posted the team's lowest rounds of the season with 68s.
LAST TIME OUT
In their last event, the Cougars finished 15th at the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, on March 25-26.
Overcoming a slow start, Houston saw four players finish with even-par 72s in the final round for their final standing. Droemer finished in a tie for 44th place with a score of 220. Flanagan and Dusenbury tied for 49th at 221.
UP NEXT
Following the Insperity Augusta State Invitational, the Cougars wrap up the regular season at the Jim West Intercollegiate, hosted by Texas State on April 11-12 at Victoria Country Club in Victoria, Texas.
From there, the team will compete at the Conference USA Championships at Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Texas on April 24-26.
