IRVING, Texas - In another effort to show their continued support and respect for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, Conference USA football teams will wear a specially designed "Hurricane Katrina" decal on their helmets for the remainder of the 2005 football season.

"This is just another way our institutions are showing how much we respect those in the Gulf Coast area that were so heavily affected by Hurricane Katrina," Banowsky said. "With two of our own institutions also being affected, our school presidents and athletic directors wanted these decals to represent the unity our league desires to display to all of its member institutions, especially Tulane and Southern Miss."

The decal design incorporates the nautical flag symbol for a hurricane and will be available for each of the schools to wear in this weekend's football games. Tulane will play its season opener against Mississippi State this Saturday at 7 p.m., in Shreveport, La., at Independence Stadium. The game will be broadcasted nationally on CSTV and the i network (formally known as PAX). CSTV will be conducting a special telethon throughout the telecast to help raise support for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
