HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss Department of Athletics announced Friday that 4,500 tickets have been sold as part of the Fill To The Top campaign, which was designed to sell out the school's home football opener, Sept. 15, against East Carolina.

This campaign began July 18 as athletic department staff and community leaders met and 10 teams were selected to go throughout the state selling tickets to groups, organizations and businesses in the Carlisle-Faulkner Field at Roberts Stadium upper decks for $10 apiece. Each team includes a team leader, an athletics department contact, and community leaders. Each team has been given the task to sell 650 upper tickets with a minimum of 10 tickets per purchase for a goal of 6,500 tickets.

"The hard work of our community leaders as well as the passion of our fan base continues to show as our Fill To The Top campaign continues to progress extremely well towards our target goal," said Athletics Director Jeff Hammond. "We are committed to starting our 100 year celebration on a big note and with five weeks away from our first home game we are well on our way."

The Southern Miss Athletic Ticket Office will also offer $10 upper deck to any fan wishing to purchase tickets for the East Carolina contest. There is no limit on the number of upper deck tickets purchased at this price.

Fans can purchase their tickets either online at SouthernMissTickets.com, by calling 1-800-844-TICK (8425) or visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Center from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
