Dexter McCoil has been one of the most productive playmakers in C-USA, recording a Tulsa-record-tying 13 interceptions in his first three seasons, including a league-high-tying six in 2011. He is one of seven returning starters to the Golden Hurricane defense.

2010 - Played 12 games and started 11 contests . . . had 56 tackles, 6 interceptions for 63 yards and three pass break-ups . . . earned honorable mention all-Conference USA merits . . . ranked fifth nationally with his six interceptions . . . his six pickoffs is also the most for a TU player since Nick Graham's six in 2005, and tied teammate Marco Nelson . . . had seven tackles and an interception late in the second quarter that stopped a Southern Miss drive . . . his interception against UTEP stopped a possible game-winning drive at the Tulsa 30-yard line late in the game . . . totaled 4 tackles, one interception and one pass break-up at Notre Dame . . . compiled seven tackles and one interception in the season opener at East Carolina.
2009 - Was one of eight true freshmen to earn a letter in the 2009 campaign . . . played in all 12 games and had six starts at free safety . . . was named to the C-USA all-freshman team . . . was named o the CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman honorable mention All-America team . . . had 85 tackles to rank third on the team . . . also tallied one interception and six pass break-ups . . . had four double-figure tackle games . . . had his first career start against No. 5- ranked Boise State and had his first double-digit tackle game with 11 stops.
