The Rice Owls will open their 2012 Coaches Caravan on Tuesday in San Antonio when they meet the media and fans at the Quarry Golf Club from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Rice head football coach David Bailiff will lead a group of Owls who will hit the road in late July for a series of events in Texas as part of the 2012 Rice Owls Coaches Caravan.
The 2012 Rice football season will see the first meeting between the Owls and UTSA, and that first game will serve as the centerpiece of the Rice Centennial Celebration. This season will also see the celebration of the induction of San Antonio's Tommy Kramer into the College Football Hall of Fame, becoming the sixth Rice player selected.
Rice Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan will be on hand as well as Rice head volleyball coach Genny Volpe. In addition to the first-ever football game between Rice and UTSA, Volpe's volleyball team will make their 2012 road debut when they face the Roadrunners in San Antonio on August 28
This year's trek will continue with events in Austin (July 18) and Dallas (July 19). The 2012 Caravan will officially end with an event at St. Arnold's Brewery in Houston on August 1 that will feature all of the Owls' head coaches.
