Tulsa, Oklahoma -
Eight University of Tulsa football games in 2012 have been chosen for television as announced by the Conference USA office today. Tulsa will have five games aired on the Fox Sports Network (FSN) and three on the CBS Sports Network (CBS SN).
Five home games and three road contests are scheduled for television this year. Additional games can possibly be added to the television schedule for the Golden Hurricane.
Tulsa will have seven C-USA games televised beginning with the home opener on September 8 against the Tulane Green Wave, which will be televised by the FOX Sports Network (FSN).
Tulsa's non-conference home game against Fresno State (Sept. 22) will be the first of the three CBS Sports Network games, while league road match-ups at Marshall (Oct. 6) and Houston (Nov. 10) have also been selected for CBS SN.
The four remaining FSN games to be aired are Tulsa home games against UTEP on Thursday night, Oct. 11th, the Homecoming game against Rice on Oct. 20th and UCF on Nov. 17th. The Tulsa-UTEP game is the only contest being moved to a non-traditional Saturday game day with a Thursday night slated. Tulsa's season finale at SMU (Nov. 24) closes out the games on FSN for the Hurricane.
"We're excited about the TV schedule released today. The opportunity to be on television eight times is big for our program," said Tulsa Head Coach Bill Blankenship. "With five home games on national television it's important to be able to showcase to the country our city, our university and our football program with tremendous fan support."
The game times for the first six contests have been announced with one game at 11 am, three afternoon games and two at 7 pm. The UCF and SMU game times will be announced by FSN 12 days out from the game.
The 2012 football season marks the second year of an agreement between Conference USA and Fox Sports Media Group for national television rights to a variety of marquee Conference USA events, including a minimum of 20 regular-season football games. Through two dozen owned and affiliated networks, FOX Sports Networks (FSN) programming reaches more than 85 million homes across the country.
This season marks the eighth year of C-USA's partnership with CBS Sports Network that includes significant national and regional exposure for football, men's and women's basketball and other C-USA sports. CBS Sports Network (CBSSN) is the 24-hour cable destination of CBS Sports. Available to more than 99 million homes nationwide, CBS Sports Network covers more than 340 live games annually, showcasing 30 men's and women's sports, in addition to a variety of studio shows and original programming.
