2013 Game Date Set for Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl St. Petersburg
May 13, 2013
ESPN Regional Television and the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl St. Petersburg announced the 2013 game will be played Monday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. ET at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The game will air on ESPN and features a Conference USA team against a school from the American Athletic Conference (formerly the Big East Conference).
"I feel the change in date and time work to our advantage from a timing standpoint as school is out and the majority of the workforce in the Tampa Bay area take this time off from work," said Brett Dulaney, Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl St. Petersburg Executive Director. "The date also benefits the competing schools fan-bases as many of the bowl's surrounding festivities will now be held during the weekend."
Last year, the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl St. Petersburg Bowl hosted UCF, representing Conference USA, against Ball State of the Mid-American Conference. The Knights, making their second appearance in the bowl, defeated the Cardinals, 38-17.
The American has increased its membership to ten teams for the 2013 season. New to the conference are UCF, Houston, Memphis and SMU. These schools join returning teams in Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Rutgers, Temple and USF.
Conference USA also has lineup changes for the 2013 season. Joining the returning teams of East Carolina, Marshall, Rice, Southern Miss, Tulane, Tulsa, UAB and UTEP are FIU, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, North Texas and UTSA.
Tickets for the 2013 Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl St. Petersburg will go on sale later this year with prices starting as low as just $35. Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
