Memphis, SMU and Tulane all added to the win column in their 2012 finales Sunday. The Green Wave picked up its first true road win of the season with a 53-50 victory at Alabama. Junior Josh Davis registered his seventh double-double of the season with game-highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Memphis closed out a seven-game homestand with a 78-64 win over Loyola (Md.). The Tigers were led by junior Joe Jackson's 22 points and seven assists. SMU improved to 5-0 at Moody Coliseum, defeating Furman 72-53. Freshman Brian Bernardi paced the Mustangs with 20 points in 23 minutes off the bench.

C-USA MEN'S BASKETBALL SHOOTING STARS

  • A pair of 3-pointers from senior Jordan Callahan (Marietta, Ga.) and two free throws from classmate Kendall Timmons (Fort Worth, Texas) in the final 1:55 helped Tulane come from behind to upend host Alabama, 53-50. Trailing 45-44, Callahan knocked down his third 3-pointer of the game with 1:55 remaining that gave the Green Wave (11-3) the lead for good. Junior F Josh Davis (Raleigh, N.C.) finished the game with a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds to record his seventh double-double of the season. Davis was 6-of-9 from both the field and the free throw line and pulled down six of Tulane's 13 offensive rebounds. It was Tulane's first true road win of the season. The Green Wave is a perfect 9-0 at Devlin Fieldhouse and beat Hofstra at the Barclays Center.
  • Memphis junior Joe Jackson (Memphis, Tenn.) scored 22 points and assisted on seven baskets in the Tigers' 78-64 win over Loyola (Md.). Freshman Shaq Goodwin (Decatur, Ga.) tossed in 15 points (12 in the second half) and junior Geron Johnson contributed 10 points and three blocks.
  • SMU freshman G Brian Bernardi (New York, N.Y) scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Mustangs to a 72-53 victory against visiting Furman. With the win, SMU improves to 10-4 on the season and 5-0 at Moody Coliseum. It is their best home start since opening the 2006-07 season with a 5-0 home mark. Sophomore G Jalen Jones (Dallas, Texas) added 14 points and eight rebounds, while classmate Cannen Cunningham (Arlington, Texas) chipped in 13 points and grabbed nine boards. Bernardi becomes the fifth Mustang to score 20+ points this season as Jones and junior G Nick Russell (Duncanville, Texas) have each done it four times apiece, while Cunningham and sophomore G Ryan Manuel (Houston, Texas) also have scored 20 points this season.
