Senior Jonathan Mills of Southern Miss and Tulsa freshman guard James Woodard were named the recipients of the men's basketball weekly honors from C-USA. Awards are chosen by a vote from a media panel representing the 12 member schools. Mills was named MVP of the Progressive Legends Classic Huntsville Sub-Regional, averaging 14.7 ppg and 8.3 rpg. He was an impressive 17-of-21 from the field to take Player of the Week honors. Woodard earns his second C-USA Freshman of the Week award in three weeks, as he tossed in 20.5 points and grabbed 9.5 rebounds in two games for TU.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JONATHAN MILLS, SOUTHERN MISS
Senior, F, Chicago, Ill.

Mills was named Most Valuable Player of the Progressive Legends Classic Huntsville Sub-Regional after leading Southern Miss to a 3-0 record as part of its 5-0 start to the season. Mills averaged 14.7 points and 8.3 rebounds while connecting on 81.0-percent (17-of-21) from the field and 71.4-precent (10-of-14) from the free throw line. Mills opened the tournament with his fifth career double-double, scoring 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting and pulling down a season-high 10 rebounds against host Sam Houston State. Against UC-Irvine, he had 14 points and seven rebounds, and then closed out the week against Liberty by scoring nine of the team's first 11 points on his way to a game-high 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting. He also added eight rebounds and two assists. This is Mills' first career C-USA Player of the Week honor.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
JAMES WOODARD, TULSA
Freshman, G, Edmond, Okla.

Woodard averaged 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, and shot .500 (14-of-28) from the field to lead Tulsa to a 1-1 record last week. He scored 27 points in an 86-66 win Wednesday against Jackson State. In that game, he connected on 10-of-18 shots, hit three three-pointers, made all four free throws, dished four assists and added a block and steal in the 86-66 win over the Tigers. Saturday against Stephen F. Austin, Woodard scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds and tallied three assists in the loss to the Lumberjacks. This is his second C-USA Freshman of the Week honor.
