Tulane and UAB picked up wins by double-digit margins and UCF improved to 3-0 on the season in Sunday action. Highlighting a number of outstanding individual performances on the day, Marshall junior DeAndre Kane registered a triple-double in a 103-100 double overtime loss to Hofstra. Kane became just the second player in Marshall history to accomplish the feat, which was the 13th in C-USA history.

  • Four UAB players scored in double figures and the Blazers defeated Navy, 82-63, inside Bartow Arena in the first game of the South Padre Island Tournament. The Blazers shot 50 percent (33-for-66) as the post players recorded 47 rebounds to Navy's 27, leading to 20 second-chance points and 48 points in the paint.
  • The UAB front-court duo of juniors Rod Rucker (Elberton, Ga.) and Fahro Alihodzic (Vlasencia, Bosnia) posted identical numbers from the floor, each shooting 7-for-10 totaling 16 points apiece. Rucker added a game-high 13 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Classmates Jordan Swing (Birmingham, Ala.) and Preston Purifoy (Conway, Ark.) also reached double figures, scoring 12 points apiece. Senior G Terence Jones (Baltimore, Md.) dished out eight helpers and added seven points in the victory.
  • Tulane sophomore Ricky Tarrant led all scorers in the game with 21 points, including three 3-pointers, as the Green Wave defeated Chicago State, 79-51, in the final home game of Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic. It was the 11th 20-plus point game of his career. With the score tied 21-21 with 6:56 remaining in the first half, the Green Wave (3-1) held Chicago State (1-3) scoreless for the remainder of the half and closed it out with an 18-0 run to take control of the game.
  • Junior F Josh Davis (Raleigh, N.C.) added 18 points to go with 10 rebounds for his second straight double-double and the 14th of his Tulane career. He knocked down a career-best 10 free throws in the game. Sophomore F Tre Drye (Baton Rouge, La.) chipped with nine points off the bench and senior G Jordan Callahan (Marietta, Ga.) knocked down three 3-pointers for nine points. Senior G Kendall Timmons (Fort Worth, Texas) once again recorded a solid stat line with seven points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
  • UCF improved to 3-0 this season Sunday by holding off Savannah State, 53-50, at the UCF Arena. The Knights were led by senior F Keith Clanton (Orlando, Fla.), who posted his third-straight double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Junior F Tristan Spurlock (Woodbridge, Va.) finished with 13 points and six rebounds in 38 minutes and junior G/G Isaiah Sykes (Detroit, Mich.) added 14 points in the win.
  • Junior G DeAndre Kane (Pittsburgh, Pa.) registered a triple-double, but the Herd fell to host Hofstra, 103-100 in double overtime. Kane scored 33 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and tallied 10 assists. It was the fourth C-USA triple-double in school history and the first with assists. The previous triple-doubles were by 2010 C-USA Freshman of the Year Hassan Whiteside, who holds the single game and single season conference blocks records. Kane's performance was the 13th triple-double in conference history.
  • It was the third game in three days for both teams as it wrapped up the 2K Sports Classic benefitting Wounded Warrior Project.
