East Carolina junior guard Akeem Richmond and Rice guard Max Guercy were named the C-USA Player and Freshman of the Week, respectively, by a media panel representing the 12 member schools. Richmond drained a school record nine 3-pointers on his way to a career-high 29-point performance to lead the Pirates to a come-from-behind victory at SMU Feb. 23. He added 17 points as ECU earned its first win at Tulsa earlier in the week. Guercy scored a team-high 19 points for the Owls and matched his season-best with five steals against Tulane.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
AKEEM RICHMOND, EAST CAROLINA
Junior, G, Sanford, N.C.

Richmond averaged 23 points and 3.0 rebounds in helping the Pirates to a pair of road wins last week. He scored a career-high 29 points Saturday against SMU, draining nine 3-pointers. The nine 3-pointers were a school record, a Moody Coliseum record, an SMU opponent record and tied the C-USA record for most 3-pointers in a conference game. His performance from the distance were the most by a C-USA player this season and tied for the second-most 3-pointers made off the bench by a Division I player this season. Richmond outscored SMU alone, 15-3 over a 2:34 stretch in the second half, making five straight 3-pointers. He scored 21 of ECU's 23 points during a 6:30 stretch in the second half and went 7-of-10 behind the arc in the second half. Richmond also led ECU to its first win at Tulsa, hitting the go-ahead basket with 5:01 remaining. He sank 5-of-11 3s against the Golden Hurricane. This is his first career C-USA Player of the Week honor.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MAX GUERCY, RICE
Freshman, G, Arleta, Calif.

Guercy led Rice with 19 points and matched a season high with five steals in Rice's lone game of the week, hosting Tulane. He shot 6-of-10 from the field and sank three of his five 3-point attempts, while adding three rebounds and a pair of assists in the game. Guercy ranks second on the team with 10.0 points per game and leads Rice in 3-point field goal percentage (.396). This is his league-best fourth C-USA Freshman of the Week honor of the season.
