Southern Miss improved to 5-0 in league play with a record-setting 102-46 victory against Marshall. It was the Golden Eagles' 23rd straight win at Reed Green Coliseum. UCF also posted a win in front of its home crowd, defeating Rice by a score of 78-67. East Carolina and Tulsa picked up important road wins. Six Pirates scored in double figures, with double-double performances from Ty Armstrong and Miguel Paul, in a 91-85 win at UAB. Tulsa senior Scottie Haralson tossed in five three-pointers and scored 19 points in an 87-72 victory against Houston.

C-USA MEN'S BASKETBALL SHOOTING STARS
- Southern Miss 102, Marshall 46: Southern Miss opened Wednesday's game on a 21-3 run on its way to dominating Marshall, 102-46, at Reed Green Coliseum. The victory was the 23rd straight home win, tying the school record that was set from 1949-51. It also set a school record for most points and school and conference record for largest margin of victory (+56) in a C-USA game. Junior G Jerrold Brooks (Rochester, N.Y.) led all players with 20 points and four steals. Junior F Dwayne Davis (Philadelphia, Pa.) had 19 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Senior G Rashard McGill (Havana, Fla.) scored 13 points and had a game-high seven rebounds and junior F Daveon Boardingham (Newark, N.J.) added 12 points and six rebounds. The Golden Eagles shot 63.2-percent (36-57) from the field, including 55.0-percent (11-of-20) from three-point range. Marshall junior Elijah Pittman led the Herd with 16 points and Kane added 13.
- UCF 78, Rice 67: UCF juniors Calvin Newell (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Isaiah Sykes (Detroit, Mich.) each scored 24 points to lead the Knights to a 78-67 win over Rice. Newell's 24 points were a career high and he shot 7-of-13 from the floor and 9-of-10 at the free throw line. Junior F Tristan Spurlock (Woodbridge, Va.) added a double-double with 14 points and a career-best 12 boards for the Knights. UCF was playing its first home game since Jan. 9 when it opened league play with a 64-48 win over UAB. Rice shot 51.1 percent for the game and made 10-of-23 (43.5 percent) attempts from deep. Senior G Tamir Jackson (Paterson, N.J.) led the Owls with 15 points.
- East Carolina 91, UAB 85:Six Pirates scored in double figures as East Carolina defeated UAB, 91-85, for the 1,000th win in ECU history. Junior F Ty Armstrong (Melbourne, Fla.) posted his first double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Senior G Miguel Paul (Winter Haven, Fla.) also registered a double-double with 12 points and 14 assists. Senior F Maurice Kemp (Miami, Fla.) tallied 17 points and moved back to the top of the C-USA scoring chart, averaging 17.7 points per game. UAB junior F Rod Rucker (Elberton, Ga.) scored a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds. He poured in 18 of his 20 points in the second half as he posted his eighth double-double of the season.
- Tulsa 87, Houston 72: Senior Scottie Haralson (Jackson, Miss.) sparked Tulsa's second-half run with 11 straight points and finished with 19 for the game as the Golden Hurricane defeated host Houston, 87-72. Haralson made 7-of-12 field goals, including five three-pointers, and grabbed seven rebounds to lead five players in double figures for TU. Junior G Tim Peete (Memphis, Tenn.) matched his career high with 14 points, and was matched by freshman James Woodard's (Edmund, Okla.) 14 points in the contest. Junior G Pat Swilling, Jr. (New Orleans, La.) tallied 11 points, and senior F Kauri Black (Rialto, Calif.) scored 10 points for TU. Tulsa's 87 points, 12 three-pointers and 20 assists all were the most totaled by the Hurricane since the season opener against LSU Shreveport on Nov. 11. Houston sophomore G Joseph Young (Houston, Texas) scored 16 points and reigning C-USA Freshman of the Week Danuel House (Sugar Land, Texas) tallied 15 points. Sophomore TaShawn Thomas (Killeen, Texas) added 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Cougars with his eighth double-double of the season and 17th of his career.
