UTEP senior center John Bohannon and Tulane's Jonathan Stark earned the Conference USA Player and Freshman of the Week honors, respectively, for the first weekend of Conference USA games through Jan. 12. Bohannon averaged a double-double on the weekend with 20.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in the Miners' C-USA opening pair of games. He also registered his 16th career double-double to move into 10th place in UTEP school history and second place for career blocks with 137, while becoming the 32nd Miner to join the 1,000-point club. Stark averaged 17 points for the week to earn his third Freshman of the Week honor this season. He scored a game-high 20 points in a win at North Texas and held the Mean Green's top offensive threat scoreless for the game. Both are repeat honorees from the non-conference season. Awards are selected by a media panel representing the 16 member schools.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOHN BOHANNON, UTEP
Senior, 6-11, C, Lancaster, Texas

Bohannon averaged a double-double (20.5 ppg/11.0 rpg), as well as 6.5 assists and 2.0 blocks, as UTEP completed a 1-1 week with a 73-68 loss to Charlotte and a 66-56 win over Marshall. He also became the 32nd member of UTEP's 1,000-point club. On Jan. 9 against the 49ers, he collected 23 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two blocks and a steal. Bohannon made 7-of-9 field goal attempts and 9-of-12 free throw attempts to establish season-bests for field goals made (seven), free throws made (nine), points (23) and minutes (38) against the 49ers. Bohannon recorded his 16th career double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds versus Marshall. He also tied his career best with seven assists in the game. His 16 career double-doubles tie for the 10th-most in school history and currently the most among active players in C-USA. With two blocks against the Herd, Bohannon tied Dave Feitl for second place in school history with 137 rejections. He now has 1,004 points and has tied Feitl as the tallest members of UTEP's 1,000-point club at 6-11. This is his second C-USA Player of the Week honor of the season and his career.
