PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (AP) - TaShawn Thomas' double-double wasn't enough to overcome Jordan Demuynck and Prairie View. Houston lost its first game of the season, 81-80.

DeMuynck was 10 of 17 from the field.

Houston shot 49 percent from the field for the game.

TaShawn Thomas scored 23 points and made 11 rebounds. Danuel House added 20, Joseph Young 15 and Jherrod Stiggers 12 for the Cougars (5-1).

Prairie View (4-5) led 44-39 at the half and shot 48.5 percent from the field for the game.

Houston will play Prairie View again on Dec. 28.
