ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) – There will be no shortage of excitement at the UCF baseball complex Friday night as the Knights kickoff their 2013 season against Siena with free admission. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. with a plethora of activities set to take place prior to the game.

Following a memorable 2012 campaign that saw the Knights total 45 wins and reach the Coral Gables Regional Championship, five Knights were drafted by MLB teams – Joe Rogers, Roman Madrid, Darnell Sweeney, Ronnie Richardson, D.J. Hicks - and will now hold a special place in UCF baseball’s Tradition Room.

The induction of all five members won’t be the only special moment of the night as Phase II expansion images will be on display as well as a digital 3D rendering that will be shown on the video board during the game.

Aiming to give the Knights a strong start to the campaign will be junior RHP Ben Lively. The Gulf Breeze native will be making his first Opening Knight start after compiling a 9-2 record with a 3.00 ERA a season ago. He will be opposed by the Saints’ Justin Brantley (2-9, 6.60 ERA) whom Lively defeated head-to-head in the March 2, 2012 matchup.

The rest of the weekend pitching matchups will see sophomore LHP Eric Skoglund (5-3, 3.21 ERA), fresh off of earning Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American laurels, face LHP Matt Gage (1-3, 3.95 ERA), while Sunday’s 1 p.m. matinee pits junior-college transfer RHP Danny Davis against RHP Rich Morales (1-2, 10.07 ERA).

UCF is undefeated on Opening Knight in head coach Terry Rooney’s tenure, including double-digit run totals in three of the four contests. Overall on the first weekend of the year, the Knights own a collective 12-2 record since 2009, and a 37-3 all-time mark against the Saints.

While the game can be heard live on 740-AM The Game with Scott Adams on the call, UCF will be all over the airwaves on its flagship station Friday as both “Open Mike” and the “Beat of Sports” will air live from the baseball complex from 6-9 a.m. and 9-12 p.m. To watch and listen to all the home games in 2013, fans can use CBS All-Access.

Season tickets can be purchased by calling (407) 823-1000 or visit the baseball tickets page. Stay up-to-date on all the latest news by visiting UCFAthletics.com and following the team on Twitter (@UCF_Baseball) and Facebook.
