IRVING, Texas - East Carolina's Brittany Copeland and Jakub Trzasalski are this week's Conference USA Female and Male Cross Country Athletes of the Week, respectively. ECU captured the Pirate Invitational women's and men's titles for the third-straight season. Copeland won the 5K race in a time of 17:40.02 while Trzasalski clocked a 5K time of 15:51.80. This marks the duo's first career Athlete of the Week selections.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
BRITTANY COPELAND, EAST CAROLINA - RS Senior, Stafford, Va.
Copeland paced East Carolina to its third-straight ECU Pirate Invitational championship Friday afternoon. She won the event with a 5K time of 17:40.02, tied for the sixth-fastest mark in program history. It was the third time in her career winning the Invitational and second-straight meet victory after taking the Wolfpack Invitational crown on Sept. 16. This is Copeland's first career Athlete of the Week honor.

MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
JAKUB TRZASALSKI, EAST CAROLINA - Sophomore, Barlinek, Poland
Trzasalski paced East Carolina to its third-straight ECU Pirate Invitational championship Friday afternoon. He was declared the meet winner as junior teammate Cory Hampshire ran unattached at the event. Trzasalski completed the 5K in 15:51.80, good for the 17th-best mark in the ECU record book. Trzasalski has paced the Pirates in their last two meets. This is Trzasalski's first career Athlete of the Week honor.
