TULSA, Okla. - Senior Bill Martin was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII First Team for men's track & field/cross country, it was announced today by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
Martin has excelled this season both in the classroom and on the track. He graduated with a 3.94 grade-point average in biochemistry.
He recently competed in the quarterfinal round of the 1,500m run at the NCAA West Preliminary in Austin, Texas, finishing 21st with a time of 4:00.98.
He won the Conference USA Championship in the Distance Medley Relay at the Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championship, and was named to the all-C-USA First Team for his efforts. He was also named to the all-C-USA Third Team during the cross country season.
He was part of two team conference championships this year (cross country, indoor track & field).
Martin has bee named to three C-USA All-Academic teams in his career (2010, '12 cross country, 2010 track & field). He has been named to Tulsa's Dean's List seven times, and he was named to the C-USA All-Academic Team all four years.
