Action is set to begin at 4 p.m. CT on Thursday with the heptathlon, followed by the decathlon at 4:30 p.m. Field events for Friday will open the afternoon competition at Noon, followed by running events throughout the evening beginning at 6 p.m. The heptathlon and decathlon will conclude its title events with the women's 800m and men's 1,500m Friday evening.

Saturday's running events start at 6 p.m. and are all prelims, except for the 3000m steeplechase. On Sunday, running finals start at 6 p.m. with the field events getting a two-hour head start at 4 p.m. The Championships awards presentation will close the ceremonies at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Looking to defend its 2010 titles are the UCF women and Houston men. The Knights enter the championship with a No. 17 national ranking in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll. It marks the third week in a row that UCF has claimed the No. 17 position in the weekly poll. The SMU Mustangs are also among the nation's elite as the women are currently ranked 24th and have appeared in six of seven Top 25 polls this season.

The Knights are led by senior JACKIE COWARD and freshman AURIEYALL SCOTT. Coward is the only athlete in the league who has broken the 13-second barrier in the 100-meters. She owns a time of 12.96 in the event to rank sixth in the latest Track Results Reporting System (TFRRS) used by the NCAA for national ranking. Scott appears among the nation's elite in two categories, the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She clocked a pair of ninth-best times of 11.17 and 22.98 in the TFRRS. The sprint specialist won the C-USA Indoor 60m dash title, while Coward claimed the 60m hurdles crown for the Knights. At last year's outdoor meet, Coward was crowned champion in the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.99 seconds.

SMU should be strong in the distance and field events as sophomore KLARA BODINSON sports the eighth-best time in the nation of 10:06.63 in the 3,000m steeplechase, while teammates LISA EGARTER and SIMONE DU TOIT are among the top five in the high jump and discus, respectively. Du Toit holds the highest individual ranking of any C-USA athlete heading into championship week. She owns the nation's second-best toss of 192-11" (58.81m) in the discus. Du Toit is also the defending C-USA champion in the shot put and discus events.

Egarter ranks fourth in her event with a clearance of 6-0.75" (1.85m). Challenging Egarter in the high jump will be KE'AIRRA JONES of Southern Miss and TYNITA BUTTS of East Carolina. Butts won the 2010 outdoor (5-08.50"/ 1.74m) and 2011 indoor (6-00.00'/1.83m') high jump crowns. Jones has cleared the TFRRS fourth-best mark of 6-0.00"/1.83m, while Butts season-best leap has been 5-10.75" (1.80m). Southern Miss' GANNA DEMYDOVA is a newcomer to the league but is expected to make an impact in the women's triple jump as she has already cleared 44-3.25" (13.49m) to rank fourth in the nation.

Tulsa's PAULA WHITING and UTEP's RISPER KIMAIYO rank third and fourth in the nation, respectively, in the 5,000m. At the Mt. SAC Relays, Whiting set a career-best time of 15:46.91, while Kimaiyo clocked a personal-best of 15:48.14 at the Payton Jordan Invitational this season. The Miners also look to register valuable points in the 10,000m as KATHYA GARCIA currently holds the nation's seventh-best time of 33:18.61. Sprinter ENDURANCE ABINUWA also adds value to the UTEP club as she finished the 400m dash in a time of 52.39, the sixth-best time in the TFRRS.

On the men's side, Houston will be going for a three-peat as the Cougars took top honors at the 2010 and 2009 outdoor championship races. The team won six individual titles and out distanced themselves by 65 points to second-place UTEP at last year's event. Leading the way will be sprinters ERROL NOLAN and DOUG KELLEY. Nolan currently holds the top times in the league of 20.68 in the 200m and 45.89 in the 400m, while Kelley ranks second in the 800m with a mark of 1:50.41. Teammate KEVIN FURLOUGH also ranks second in 400m with a crossing of 46.29. Another strong event for the Cougars will be the jumps, as three athletes hold top five C-USA marks in the long and triple jumps.

Tulsa will continue to show its strength in the distance events as the Golden Hurricane owns six of the top seven performances in the 5,000m, led by GERAINT DAVIES time of 14:07.90. Senior LEWIS TIMMINS also owns the top C-USA time of 29:26.64 in the 10,000m. In addition, junior CHRIS O'HARE has proven to be one of the best in the nation as he ran the nation's top mile time of 3:58.77 at the Drake Relays, breaking the school record in the process. At the 2010 C-USA Outdoor Championships, O'Hare won the 1,500 with a time of 3:47.77. He also captured the 800m and mile indoor titles at this year's indoor event. His 800m time of 1:51.06 established a C-USA Indoor Championship record.

Fans can purchase an all-session ticket for $25 for adult and $15 for youth (17 and under) that is good for all four days of the championship. Single day tickets are $12 for adult and $7 for youth. All persons age three and over must have a ticket for admission. Also, current students from each of the 12 schools in Conference USA will be admitted for free with valid school identification.
