IRVING, Texas - Conference USA has named Tulsa's CHRIS O'HARE and JACKIE COWARD of UCF as this week's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week. O'Hare posted the nation's second-best time of 3:37.95 in the men's 1,500 meters at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational, while Coward clocked a 13.25 in the women's 100m hurdles at the Championship of America.

O'Hare posted the second-fastest collegiate time of 3:37.95 in the 1,500 meters at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. He finished ninth in a field of 36 runners that included Olympians and other elite runners. His time broke his own school record by more than four seconds (3:42.54) and was the second fastest collegiate runner as Lawi Lalang of Arizona finished in 3:36.77.

FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
JACKIE COWARD, UCF
Senior, 100m Hurdles, Knoxville, Tenn.
Coward advanced to the Championship of America finals of the 100 meter hurdles by winning her heat and clocking the second-fastest qualifying time of the day at 13.25 (+2.7). The following day, Coward earned third place in the finals with a time of 13.34. The performance is her third legal time to rank among the NCAA's top 25 this season. She then went on to run anchor for the 4x400 relay, who churned out a season-best time of 3:42.11. That ranks among the top five performances in C-USA this season.

UPDATE: The 2012 Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship has been shortened one day and will conclude with the finals on Sunday, May 13. The now three-day event is being hosted by Tulane University at the Tad Gormley Stadium on May 11-13 in New Orleans, La. An all session pass is just $15 for adults and $10 for youth. C-USA students with valid I.D. are admitted free.
