Conference USA has named Knut Syversen of Memphis and Andrea Kvetova of SMU as its Male and Female Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.
C-USA OUTDOOR TRACKE & FIELD NOTEBOOK & TOP PERFORMANCES
Syversen placed in the top six in each of his events at the John McDonnell Invitational, including one NCAA regional mark, while Kvetova posted the seventh-best javelin throw in the nation at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays.
This is the first individual weekly honor of both student-athletes.
C-USA MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
KNUT SYVERSEN, MEMPHIS
Freshman, Field Events, Sarpsborg, Norway
Syversen posted a personal-best weekend as he placed in the top six in each event at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. He first qualified for NCAA regionals with a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 17.06m (55-11.75"). This ranks him second in the league. He also placed third in the hammer with a mark of 52.81m (173-3") and sixth in the discus with a mark of 46.13m (151-4").
C-USA FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ANDREA SVETOVA, SMU
Senior, Javelin, Prague, Czech Republic
Kvetova recorded the seventh-best javelin throw in the nation of 52.70m (172-11) to finish third at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. Kvetova was the only collegian in the invitational field.
