Track and Field Hosts Tulsa Duels Saturday

TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa track and field teams open the outdoor season with the Tulsa Duels on Saturday, March 20, at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. Field events start at 9:00 a.m., followed by running events at 2:00 p.m.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Bradley, Oral Roberts, Northwest Missouri State, Coffeyville Community College and Bacone College are all scheduled to compete this weekend.

The meet kicks off with two events on Friday afternoon with the hammer throw starting at 1:00 p.m. in Stillwater, Okla., and the javelin at 7:00 p.m. at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.

The Hurricane is coming off a record-setting indoor season in which the men's team posted a program-best, second-place finish at the C-USA Indoor Championships, and the women's squad tied a school-best, fourth-place finish at that the conference indoor meet. Tulsa captured nine individual gold medals highlighted by senior John Beattie earning High Point Scorer of the Meet honors after winning titles in the 3,000m and 5,000m.

Senior Alex Becker was named an All-American for the sixth time in her career after placing fifth in the 5,000m with a school-record time of 15:58.52 at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 12th.
