TULSA, Okla. - Chris O'Hare is set to compete in the Mile run at the 2011 Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships March 11 in College Station, Texas at the Rhonda & Frosty Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

The sophomore member of the Golden Hurricane track and field team will run in the first of two heats during the preliminaries. The top four of each heat plus the next two fastest times will advance to the finals.

O'Hare's race is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m., following the national anthem at 3:55 p.m. and the women's Mile at 4:00 p.m.

If he qualifies for the finals, then the championship race will take place at 5:10 p.m. March 12.

Both the preliminaries and finals will be streamed live by ESPN3.com, and the entire 2011 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships will are on a tape-delay on Wednesday, March 16 from 1:30 - 3 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

O'Hare enters the event with the third-fastest time in the NCAA this year, as he ran a school-record 3:56.48 at the Tyson Invitational Feb. 11. The first heat will feature O'Hare and junior Miles Batty of BYU, who currently boasts the second-fastest collegiate time at 3:55.79.

The fastest time in the nation this season belongs to sophomore Patrick Casey of Montana State, who ran an adjusted time of 3:54.59. He will run in the second heat.

O'Hare is attempting to become the second member of the Golden Hurricane to finish in the top eight in the mile and earn All-American status.

Senior Mark Davidson competed in the 2009 version of the Indoor Championships and finished eighth in the mile with a time of 4:03.09. That was the first and only time in school history that a male member of the TU track and field team was named an All-American.
