BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Houston men picked up its 12th Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championship, while UCF women earned its second title in the last three years Sunday at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The Cougars scored 143 points to the Knights 132.5 for top honors. Finishing second in the men's race was defending champion Tulsa with 126 points. Memphis women ended the two-day event with a C-USA best runner-up finish and a program-best 93 points.

UTEP's Anthony Rotich claimed two of the four men's individual awards. The sophomore distance runner earned Performance of the Meet and High Point Scorer of the Meet as he competed in the mile, 3,000m, 5,000m and distance medley relay tallying a total of 36 points. His C-USA and facility record setting meet performance of 8:06.46 in the 3,000m earned him the Performance of the Meet award. Tulsa's Bryce Robinson left his first C-USA Championship with a gold medal in the 60m (6.67) and silver in the 200m (21.19), which earned him Freshman of the Meet honors. Coach of the Year accolade went to Houston's Leroy Burrell as he picked up his 11th overall accolade.

Other outstanding performances on the men's side came from seniors Chris O'Hare and Errol Nolan. O'Hare won his third gold medal in the 800-meters with a time of 1:52.84 for the Golden Hurricane. Prior to that event, he became the second athlete to win four consecutive C-USA indoor titles as his time of 4:15.89 in the mile also placed him on top of the awards podium. With two titles Sunday, O'Hare becomes the most decorated male in league history with seven gold medals.

For the third consecutive year, Nolan won gold in the 200m and 400m for Houston. The sprint specialist defended his 2012 titles as he claimed gold in the 400 with a time of 47.21 and also in the 200 after tying his personal best of 20.99.

Three of the top four women's individual honors went to UCF as junior Aurieyall Scott earned Performance of the Meet while teammate Alexis Faulknor won Freshman of the Meet and Caryl Smith Gilbert earned her fifth C-USA Coach of the Year honor.

Scott improved the championship meet record, UCF record and set a personal-best of 7.13 in the 60m, which ranks as the NCAA's new leading time. She followed that gold medal ceremony with another record setting performance of 22.91 in the 200m. This year's world leader posted the second-best time of her career (22.91) for gold.

Faulknor clinched the first medal of her career with a bronze finish and a personal-best time of 7.43 in the 60m, followed by recording another PR in the 200 with a time of 24.10 to place fifth overall.

Wrapping up the women's top awards was UAB's Elinor Kirk. The junior broke the school and C-USA meet record in the 3000m (9:23.36), finished second in the 5,000m (16:33.35) as well as the mile (4:43.73) to earn High Point Scorer of the Meet with 26 points. She's the first Blazer to capture this accolade.

Championship action concluded with one men's record, two facility records and nine women's marks falling. The two-day event was hosted by UAB for the second-consecutive year.
