C-USA Indoor Track an Field Notebook No. 7
IRVING, Texas - Steffen Nerdal of Memphis and UAB's Nora Mehl were named the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday. Nerdal earned his fourth NCAA qualifying mark in the weight throw at the Redhawk Invitational with a toss of 22.56m (74-00.25), while Mehl's leap of 1.81m (5-11.25) in the high jump at the LSU Twilight earned her an NCAA provisional mark and 16th national rank in the event.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Nerdal competed in the weight throw competition for the first time in nearly a month and posted his fourth NCAA qualifying mark in as many chances. The Bergen, Norway native threw his second-best mark of the season with a toss of 22.56m (74-00.25) and captured his fourth first-place finish in as many entries. The senior thrower owns the top mark in C-USA and second-best in the NCAA. This is Nerdal's third honor of the season and fifth of his indoor career.
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nora Mehl, UAB
Junior, High Jump, Rottweil, Germany
Mehl earned an NCAA provisional mark in the high jump with a leap of 1.81m (5-11.25) at the LSU Twilight last weekend to win the event title. The Rottweil, Germany native's mark was .04m short of an automatic qualifying standard. The junior is tied for 16th in the nation and owns the best jump in C-USA. This is Mehl's first career weekly honor.
