C-USA Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-University of Memphis track and field athletes Xenia Rahn and Luis Hanssler were each named Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. This marks the second and third time this indoor season that a Memphis athlete has received the weekly honor.

Rhan was named Co-C-USA Female Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for her pentathlon win at the Rod McCravy Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky. The sophomore racked up 4,191 points in the event setting a new program-record. Rhan's pentathlon mark currently ranks No. 3 in NCAA Division I competition.

In the course of her pentathlon win, Rahn cleared a height of 1.81m (5'11.25") in the high jump setting another program-record. The Hamburg, Germany native's high jump is currently tied for 13th in the nation. Rahn shares this week's award with jumper Tynita Butts of East Carolina. This is the first time that Rahn has received the C-USA weekly honor.

Luis Hanssler was named C-USA Male Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for his first-place finish in the heptathlon at the Rod McCravy Invitational. After two days of competition, Hanssler tallied a new program-record of 5,291 points in the event.

The Ratingen, Germany native finished first in four of the seven events (60m dash, long jump, 60m hurdles and the 1000m run) in his program-best performance. Hansslers' heptathlon score currently ranks No. 15 in the nation. This is the freshman's first C-USA weekly honor.
