C-USA Adds Two More to All-America List at Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Conference USA completed the final day of the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with competition in four events, including two All-American performances. The two-day championships took place inside the Randall Tyson Track Center on the campus of The University of Arkansas with Florida winning the men's title after tallying 57 points, while Oregon won the women's championship with a total of 61 points.

UTEP's Blessing Okagbare earned her second All-America honor of the meet by sprinting through the finish line of the women's 60-meter dash in 7.172. The senior eluded Gabby Mayo of Texas A&M by .003 to win her second title of the meet and C-USA's third Championship by a female competitor. The Sapele, Nigeria native also won the women's long jump Friday with a leap of 6.87m (22-06.50).

Senior Steffen Nerdal of Memphis earned his second-straight and third-overall All-America honor in the men's weight throw after turning in a second-place performance with a toss of 23.22m (76-02.25). The Norwegian native set the school record for the third time this season and is the only Tiger track and field athlete to earn the All-America honor multiple times. Dimitrios Fylladitakis of UTEP also competed in the men's weight throw, finishing ninth overall with a mark of 20.90m (68-07.00).

Rounding out C-USA's competitors in the NCAA Championships were SMU's Simone du Toit and Alex Becker of Tulsa. Du Toit finished 17th in the women's shot put with a mark of 15.67m (51-05.00), while Becker ran a time of 9:21.78 to cross in at 15th place in the women's 3,000m run. Becker also competed in Friday's 5,000m run, earning All-America accolades with a fifth-place finish (15:58.53).
