SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Southern Miss' Chastity Riggien and Tori Bowie capped off the final day of the 23rd Meyo Invitational turning in outstanding performances in the sprints.

Riggien recorded one of the fastest times in the preliminaries to advance to the finals of the 60-meter dash. Coach Kevin M. Stephen would not be disappointed as Riggien recorded a school record time of 6.39 to capture the individual title in the 60 meters. Riggien's time also ties the best mark in Conference USA.

Bowie was not to be outdone as the sophomore sprinter ran a solid time of 24.08 in the 200 meters to finish first out of 68 competitors. The time moved Bowie into third on the list of top performances in C-USA. Riggien also competed and was fourth with a time of 24.40.

On Friday, Bowie finished third in the long jump with a mark of 6.10m (20'00.25").

Senior Ashley May turned in a season-best mark in the triple jump with a jump of 12.60m (41'4.25"), giving her the top mark in C-USA. She also ran a time of 7.93 in the 60-meter dash.

Ramon Crockett posted a conference tying mark of 7.45m (2'5.50") in the long jump placing sixth.

The Golden Eagles will take a weekend away from competition before turning to the track Feb. 29 at the LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational.
