IRVING, Texas – After posting three first place finishes in a meet victory, Florida Atlantic sophomore Spence Atkins earns her first C-USA Swimmer of the Week honor. The Diver of the Week award went to FIU sophomore Brittany Haskell, who won both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, posting two NCAA zone-qualifying marks.
 
SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
SPENCE ATKINS, Florida Atlantic, So., Sarasota, Florida
Atkins continued her impressive debut season, claiming three first finishes to help the Owls defeat Central Connecticut on January 13.  She clinched first in the 200 yard freestyle (1:52.56), 200 yard butterfly (2:01.26) and the 500 yard freestyle (4:59.13).
 
DIVER OF THE WEEK
BRITTANY HASKELL, FIU, So., London, Ontario, Canada
Haskell swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard programs last Thursday as FIU defeated Central Connecticut State, 155-63 in a dual meet at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center. Haskell put up two NCAA zone-qualifying marks, with a 284.70 in the 1-meter and a 290.95 in the 3-meter program. It was her second win from the 1-meter springboard (Georgia Southern, 1214/17), while her first in a 3-meter program this year. She previously captured Diver of the Week earlier this season, on December 20, 2017.
