Sept 11 Players of the Week Release
Brady had a massive day for the Thundering Herd, snaring 11 passes for a Carter-Finley Stadium-record 248 yards and a 75-yard touchdown in the 37-20 loss at NC State. That receiving yardage total was the most by a Marshall receiver in 15 years, the most against a Power-5 opponent in the program's history, and tied him for fourth with Troy Brown in the school’s single-game records. Brady’s 248 yards were the fifth-highest total by a C-USA player and he became the 13th player in Marshall history to gain at least 200 receiving yards in a single game. Brady is the only player in the nation with seven 20+-yard plays from scrimmage and ranks No. 2 in FBS in receiving yards per game (151.0) while playing just six quarters thus far this season.
Stockstill rallied Middle Tennessee to a road upset of ACC-member Syracuse with three second-half touchdowns, finishing the game 22-of-36 for 269 yards. Stockstill was outstanding in the clutch, completing 11-of-14 passes for 193 yards during the second-half comeback. Those numbers included 5-for-5 passing for 95 yards in the fourth quarter with two TD passes, including the game-winner with 6:46 remaining. He extended his streak for consecutive games with a TD pass to 18, which is second-longest in the country. Stockstill also had two punts for a 45.0 yard average with both downed inside the 10-yard line.
Brooks registered a career-high and game-high eight tackles in the win at Syracuse. He was in on four tackles for loss, collecting one solo stop and assisting on three others. Brooks played part in two of Middle Tennessee’s six sacks, with one solo and an assist on another, leading a defense that limited Syracuse’s high-octane offense to just 308 yards of total offense. He keyed a defensive surge that allowed just one TD in each half of the road victory.
Vedvik averaged 44.5 yards on four punts and connected on field goals of 33 and 45 yards at NC State, the latter being the longest Marshall field goal since Justin Haig’s 46-yarder in the 2014 Conference USA Championship win over Louisiana Tech. All four of Vedvik’s punts were non-returnable and he landed one inside the 20-yard line, with a long of 57. For the season, he is 11th in the nation in punting average (46.75).
