Susannah Lynch shared C-USA Female of the Week honors after securing individual and team titles over the weekend.
Male Athlete of the Week
Jacob Choge, Middle Tennessee, Fr., Kapsabet City, Kenya
Choge led the charge for the Blue Raiders as they captured a first-place finish at the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tenn. The freshman placed second overall with a time of 24:03.7 in the 8k in the first collegiate race of his career. His time was a personal best and Middle Tennessee finished first ahead of nationally ranked Louisville and SEC foes Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. This is Choge’s first career C-USA Athlete of the Week award.
Female Co-Athletes of the Week
Lilian Koech, UTEP, So., Eldoret, Kenya
Koech paced UTEP to a team title in the Kachina Classic in Las Cruces, N.M., Saturday. Her 5k time of 17:34.36 was tops among her competitors and marked the third individual triumph of her collegiate career. This is the sophomore’s second career C-USA weekly award and UTEP’s first female athlete of the week honor this season.
Susannah Lynch, North Texas, So., Wellington, New Zealand
Lynch won the first collegiate race of her career at the Ken Garland Invitational in Denton, Texas. The sophomore’s 5k time of 18:01.3 led the Mean Green to a team title over Big 12 foes Oklahoma, TCU and Baylor. This is Lynch’s first career C-USA Athlete of the Week award.
