Conference USA has entered into a membership agreement with Old Dominion University beginning in July 2013, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced today. ODU will join members Charlotte, East Carolina, FIU, Marshall, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Southern Miss, Tulsa, Tulane, UAB, UTEP and UTSA.
Thirteen Conference USA softball players have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region Teams, as announced Thursday by the organization. Players from league champion Tulsa, Houston, Marshall, UAB, UCF and UTEP were honored.
All seven Conference USA representatives wrapped up first round NCAA Men's Golf Regional play among the top five teams in their respective regions Thursday. No. 41 SMU finished the day second in the Greensboro Regional and even par. No. 33 East Carolina shot eight-under par and sits in third place at the Athens Regional, while Tulsa is tied for third at the Greensboro Regional. SMU's Matt Schovee fired a five-under, 67, to lead the Greensboro Regional after the first round, while Memphis' Jonathan Fly is the co-leader at four-under par at the Bowling Green Regional. Seven C-USA golfers hold top-five positions after the opening round.
Conference USA concluded its annual Spring Meetings today in Destin, Fla. Commissioner Britton Banowsky and staff hosted Athletics Directors, Senior Woman Administrators, Faculty Athletics Representatives and head coaches for football, men's and women's basketball from its 12 member institutions.
